When entering the site for the first time this will generate an Urchin Tracking Monitor cookie, which is a private identifier that will be used to generate accurate tracking of the user throughout the site. This enables DVLA to collect more accurate statistics of the web site usage which we use solely to make improvements to the layout of the site and to the information on it, based on the way that visitors navigate around it. We do not make any other use of this information, nor do we pass it on to any other organisation. The second area where a cookie is activated is when registered users enter our secure pages, governed by the access and identity management system. This cookie will store information in the form of a session identification that does not personally identify the user. The session cookie is stored in temporary memory and is not retained after the browser is closed. The final area where a cookie may be activated is when selecting a different language preference on the web site. This cookie stores information on your preferred language to ensure continuity when navigating through the web site, no other details are stored in this cookie. No Cookie creates a record on the Agency’s web site or its computers and thus they do not contain any personal information about you, nor can they be used to identify individual users.

The DVLA encourages users to establish hypertext links to this site, however, we do not permit the use of our logo as promotional or hypertext objects. It is our policy to obtain permission to link to other web sites. The DVLA is not responsible for the contents or reliability of the linked web sites and does not necessarily endorse the views expressed within them. Listings should not be taken as endorsement of any kind. We cannot guarantee that these links will work all of the time and we have no control over the availability of linked pages.

Virus protection

The DVLA makes every effort to check and test material at all stages of production. It is always wise for users to run an anti-virus program on all material downloaded from the Internet. The DVLA cannot accept any responsibility for any loss, disruption or damage to your data or your computer system which may occur whilst using material off this enquiry channel.

Governing law

These terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute arising under these terms and conditions shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

General

We accept no liability for any failure to comply with these terms and conditions where such failure is due to circumstance beyond our reasonable control. If we waive any rights available to us under these terms and conditions on one occasion, this does not mean that those rights will automatically be waived on any other occasion. If any of these terms and conditions are held to be invalid, unenforceable or illegal for any reason, the remaining terms and conditions shall nevertheless continue in full force.
